Introduction

The Rainsworth Dukedom (レインズワース
The Rainsworth Dukedom is the family of Sharon Rainsworth, is served by Xerxes Break, and is lead by Duchess Sheryl Rainsworth.
One hundred years ago, Jack Vessalius plotted to cast the world into the Abyss out of his warped obsession for a Baskerville girl, Lacie. He failed, but his actions resulted in the death of Glen Baskerville, the dissolution of the Baskerville Clan, and Sablier being dropped into the Abyss, the event coming to be known as the Tragedy of Sablier. In the aftermath Jack extensively falsified the circumstances of the Tragedy to cast the Baskervilles as the villains who caused it and himself as the hero who vanquished them. He stole from them the Doors to the Abyss and using such power, established the Four Great Dukedoms and Pandora. Out of all four families, the Rainsworths are the only ones not directly involved with the Tragedy. Jack included them due to their royal lineage, and thus their presence allowed the state to give the Dukedoms as much power as they held.
The Rainsworths have been close with the Barma Dukedom for well over 40 years. As children, the Duchess Rainsworth Sheryl and the Duke Barma Rufus attended Lutwidge Academy together. Their relationship began with them constantly at odds, but Rufus ended up falling in love with Sheryl. She did not return his affections, which he himself only discovered after Sheryl's engagement. Despite this, the two of them remained dedicated friends and allies throughout the rest of their careers. One day they made a promise to each other: no matter their individual goals and ambitions in the future, they would always work together as Rainsworth and Barma to prevent anything like the Tragedy from happening ever again. This promise was sealed by the two exchanging their Keys to the Doors to guarantee their loyalty to one another.
Decades afterwards, long after they had become Duchess and Duke respectively, Rufus sent his valet Reim Lunettes to deliver a love letter to Sheryl. Reim was strictly instructed to not return until he received a reply letter, causing him to stay with the Rainsworths for two years. During that time, he and young Sharon Rainsworth discovered a dying man at the Rainsworth Door to the Abyss. He called himself Xerxes Break, and despite his initial hostility, he started to warm up at the persistent kindness of Sharon's mother Shelly. He would eventually regard and be regarded by the Rainsworths as family, and even after Shelly's passing, Break, Sharon, and Reim would stay close to one another for the rest of their lives.
