Levi was the  former head of the Baskerville family, the Glen Baskerville, preceding Oswald. When Jack Vessalius was introduced to the Baskervilles after crashing a small party hosted by the Barma Dukedom, Levi was already on the verge of death, having discovered his successor and was in the process of transferring the Black Winged Chains to Oswald. Levi is the father of Alice and the Intention of the Abyss (a term which Levi coined himself), however shortly after their birth, Levi's body mutated into the Chain known as Humpty Dumpty, whilst his consciousness joined the other past Glens within Oswald's soul. Levi's wish for change, led to the destruction of the Abyss' harmony which the Baskervilles had long held; ending its existence as a paradise and warping it into a dark prison. Just as well, Levi's misplaced trust in Jack eventually led to the Tragedy of Sablier.

HistoryEdit

More than 100 years ago, Levi was inducted into the Baskerville family alongside a Child of Ill Omen with a connection of an unknown nature. Due to this connection, as well as being born with a distortion surrounding his being, Levi was qualified to succeed his master, the Glen Baskerville at the time who happened to be female.

Following a number of Accession Ceremonies spanning over the course of a few decades, Levi inherited all of the Black Winged Chains, and officially succeeded his master. Levi then used the Chains of Condemnation to send the Child of Ill Omen whom he had joined the Baskervilles with, to oblivion within the dark core of the Abyss. Levi's master would soon "die", her body mutating into an unknown Chain, whilst her soul faded into Levi's subconscious.

Not long after becoming Glen, two new inductees were added to the Baskerville family, a brother and sister, named Oswald and Lacie. As Lacie was a Child of Ill Omen, and because they had been chosen by the power of the Abyss, Levi knew that Oswald was destined to succeed him.

Levi was wandering with Oswald and Lacie around the lower levels of the Baskerville mansion, when Lacie ran into Jiri. The elderly Baskerville questioned why a Child of Ill Omen was in the mansion, and ordered Lacie to "fall" back from whence she came. Lacie, confused, quickly returned to her brother's side at his beckoning. Levi then approached Jiri and told her not to scare Oswald and Lacie like that, as they were new to the Dukedom. Jiri asked him whether Oswald was to be the next vessel of "Glen", something which Levi confirmed. Levi explained that he had planned on transferring Raven and introducing Oswald as his successor soon, followed by transferring Owl, Dodo, Gryphon and Jabberwock, but added that the process could take anywhere between 10 and 20 years to complete. He stated that this was only a matter of time for Jiri, and she would simply have to bear with Lacie's existence until her time came.

Levi then left with Oswald and Lacie, who questioned him as to Jiri's identity and whether she was a Baskerville. Levi explained that she was, but one with different responsibilities than the rest of them; Whereas the main purpose of the Baskervilles is to ensure that the power of the Abyss did not interfere with their world too much, Jiri's is to watch over them, particularly the Glens. Oswald asked Levi why this was so, and he answered that it was just the way that things were. He stated that none of the past Glens were able to uncover how long Jiri had been around for or even where she stayed, only that she had had been present since time immemorial, coming at unexpected time and places to offer advise to them. Oswald and Lacie were confused by this, and Levi told them not to worry about it, as Jiri existed and there was nothing they could do about it, so there was no point in questioning her existence, rather they should spend their time wondering what they wanted to do about it, otherwise they should just be content with the way that things were.

Lacie recalled how Jiri had ordered her to "fall", and she asked Levi if she was going to fall somewhere. Levi said that she probably would, and upon further questioning, Levi explained that it was because Lacie was a Child of Ill Omen, though she didn't understand what this meant, and Levi hadn't expected her to. Lacie then asked Levi what would happen to her once she'd fallen and Levi, grinning, cheerfully told Lacie that she'd die.

Later, when Lacie and Levi were alone together, Levi explained to her that once Oswald succeeded him as Glen Baskerville, she would be cast into the Abyss. This confused Lacie, prompting her to state that she would just come back like she always did. Levi clarified that this time would be different in that Lacie would be unable to return to Earth, as when the Baskervilles talked about casting someone into the Abyss, they were talking about sending them into the dark heart of the Abyss using the Chains of Condemnation, and that this was not the Abyss bathed in golden light which Lacie had come to know. Levi continued, stating that not even a Baskerville could escape this part of the Abyss when cast there by the Chains of Condemnation. There she would be annihilated and the rule of 100 cycles that states that a human soul can return to Earth after a 100 years would not apply; Lacie would die for good. Lacie's expression grew depressed as she asked if this was because she was a Child of Ill Omen, which Levi happily confirmed.

Lacie, gaining this knowledge, began observed it from afar during her next visit to the Abyss. When she returned to Earth, she asked Levi if there was someone within the darkness, as she could sense a presence within it, but no matter how much she called, it wouldn't respond to her. Levi did not answer her question right away, taking some time to think it over and decide whether or not to tell Lacie about the being she had sensed.

After making a decision, Levi approached Lacie privately and asked her if she had remembered her previous question. Levi explained that what Lacie had asked him about as most likely the Nucleus of the Abyss. Levi stated that the Children of Ill Omen could influence the Nucleus of the Abyss, despite the Glen Baskervilles being the only ones permitted to do so. The Nucleus was the heart of the Abyss, and to touch it would cause massive disruptions to the world, which was why the Glens were only allowed to approach it during the most dire of circumstances. This was why Lacie had to be cast into the Abyss; her very existence was a threat. Hearing this, Lacie then said that she had heard that the Chains of Condemnation could only be summoned by the Black Winged Chains, and so asked if she understood correctly that this meant that it would be her brother that was to kill her when he finally became Glen. Levi avoided this question, saying that he really shouldn't have told her any of this. He then asked Lacie if, since she was going to die anyway, she would like to help him with an experiment.

The purpose of the experiment was to allow people to handle the power of the Abyss. Lacie told Levi that such a thing was impossible, reminding him that the Abyss was the beginning of all things, a blueprint for the world, and can be thought of almost like a god. Levi told Lacie that he wasn't looking to become a god, moreover he wanted to give the Nucleus of the Abyss a suitable vessel, in hopes of being able to control the power of the Abyss through said vessel. Levi explained to Lacie that when she's taken by the Chains of Condemnation, only she will be affected by their power, whereas a child she'd be carrying would remain unaffected, likely to be cradled in the heart of the Abyss and continue living. Levi put his hand on Lacie's shoulder, but Lacie pulled away quickly. She asked Levi if this meant that the Nucleus would really find the child and would therefore not have to be alone anymore, which Levi confirmed. At this, Lacie then agreed to be a part of Levi's experiment.

Tragedy of SablierEdit

Approximately 20 years later, Levi had successfully impregnated Lacie. Levi had been promising Lacie that he would take her away from the mansion, and after breaking eight promises already, Levi ran to Lacie's tower to inform her that once again he wouldn't be able to live up to his word. Lacie had been laying on the floor when Levi entered her room, speaking of being bathed in light as her subconscious was in the Abyss. Lacie stated that she was going to meet the Nucleus of the Abyss before asking Levi if she was right that this was his ninth broken promise, this makes Levi smile, and so he tells her that after one more the two of them could celebrate their anniversary.

Levi took the time to explain to Lacie that he had forgotten that the heir to the Barma Dukedom was going to visit them again. Lacie noted has been happening a lot recently ever since the Barmas had lost the war in their own country and were since exiled, as the Barmas were seemingly trying desperately to get in favor of the Baskervilles in order to gain status in society. Levi told Lacie that such a thing wasn't as bad as it may appear, as it's good to experience different cultures, which was why he was hosting an event in Arthur's honor. Levi remarked on how he had heard that the Barmas were going to play some instruments from their home country before Levi decided to invite Lacie to come to the event if she so desired. Lacie said that she would think about it, and so Levi left, promising Lacie that he wouldn't break his next promise.

Lacie had arrived at the event as one of the Barma's musicians played his Morin Khuur. Upon seeing Lacie, the musician threw off his costume and Morin Khuur, immediately embracing Lacie unexpectedly from behind. Levi and Arthur were taken aback by the abruptness of the sudden change of events, however the musician was soon knocked unconscious by Oswald. Levi asked his valet not to kill the musician, and after receiving conformation that the musician was alive from Oswald, Levi teasingly asked the flustered Arthur if he had known about the musician's intentions. Arthur denied knowing that this would occur, explaining that his sister had provided the musician to play at Levi's event. Oswald asked Lacie if she had known who the musician was, which Lacie hesitated to answer, staring at the earring the musician was wearing, which she had given to a boy she'd met eight years prior. Despite this, Lacie denied knowing who the musician was, and so Levi had his valets take the musician to a more private setting.

Oswald delivered the information that he had known about the musician to Levi immediately, explaining that the ma n was Jack Vessalius, 23 years old and the third son of Viscount Vessalius. Levi remarked on how quickly Oswald had gathered information about Jack, but Oswald explained that he had already known who Jack was because he had seen him within society prior to the event. Levi asked Oswald why he'd allowed Jack into the Baskerville estate in the first place if he's known who Jack was, as Jack looked suspicious from every angle. Oswald explained that Levi had told him once before that he relied too much on his intuition and so Oswald had decided to give Jack a chance, Levi couldn't believe this and tells Oswald that he was a complete idiot, which Oswald apologized for.

Meanwhile, Jack sat across from Levi, looking around at the Baskervilles in the room before asking where Lacie was. Levi smiled and asked Jack if he even knew what kind of place he was presently in. Jack stated that he was in the Baskerville mansion, however Levi told him that this was not fully correct. Levi elaborated that in this mansion, he had absolute power as he head of the household, and so if he decided that he felt like having Jack tortured, no one would object on Jack's behalf. Jack asked if Levi did really plan on having him killed, and if so he would have liked to see Lacie just one last time. This stunned Levi, who began giggling as he stated that he didn't know what had happened between Lacie and Jack before, but Lacie was a fickle girl who often escaped from the mansion and found herself a pet to play with for the day, and so if Jack had expected her to show any kind of special appreciation towards her now... Jack interrupted Levi, saying that he knew before asking if he was right to assume that Lacie didn't remember who he was. Jack explained that he didn't care if that was the case, because Lacie was so free spirited that nothing could tie her down, and so Jack was happy to see that she hadn't changed a bit. Levi paused for a moment, calling Jack an interesting fellow before waving to one of his valets for more wine. Levi explained that he had no idea that there were people like Jack in the Vessalius Viscount-ship, and that Jack didn't even fit into Levi's memory of the members of the Vessalius family.

Oswald interjected that Levi had never heard of Jack because Jack was only recently allowed to be shown in society as a member of the Vessalius family, adding how many didn't know that Jack was the son of a mistress to Viscount Vessalius, and he had lived with her for the majority of his life. Levi asked how Oswald had known so much about Jack, and Oswald explained that he had done some research on Jack. This took Jack by surprise, and Levi stood up to remove Oswald's hood, introducing him to Jack as Lacie's elder brother. Jack asked Oswald if they had met at a ball before, but Oswald stated that they hadn't, this being their first time actually meeting one another. Oswald explained that his job was to keep an eye on everyone of importance. Levi noted how it was still odd for Oswald to take such an interest in someone to such an extent, which Oswald agreed to, stating that he couldn't help but notice Jack. This stunned both Levi and Jack as Levi stated that he wasn't aware that Oswald 'swung that way'. Oswald didn't understand what Levi meant, and so he elaborated that ever since he'd laid eyes on Jack he couldn't help but wonder why Jack made his skin crawl.

Levi broke into a fit of hysterical laughter following Oswald's statement, which Oswald didn't understand. Levi urged Oswald to try and explain how exactly he felt about Jack. Oswald told his master that it wasn't easy to put into words, but Levi told him to try anyway. Oswald explained that to him, Jack felt like water, so still and silent that even fish avoided it, and when you looked into it all you could see was your own reflection and not Jack's true nature, almost as if no one was really there. Jack grew so uncomfortable that he threw water at Oswald in order to make him stop talking, but this made Jack embarrassed at the same time. Lacie entered the room at this point, grabbing Jack by the wrist and dragging him with her out of the room, whilst Levi laughed uncontrollably. In their absence, Levi decided not to hold the Vessaliuses or the Barmas responsible for what had happened, giving Oswald this message to deliver to the other valets.

Levi approached Jack and Lacie when they were alone, eavesdropping on their conversation. Lacie asked Jack what he was going to do now, and so Jack stated that he was likely going to continue living as a scion of the Vessalius family, but he still couldn't believe that he'd actually managed to find Lacie. Levi came up behind Lacie at this moment, suggesting that Jack come and visit them again, also handing Jack a map of the Baskerville estate with marked path to the mansion, as well as numerous secret passages. After Jack's departure, Lacie asked Levi what he planned on doing with Jack. Levi wrapped his arms around Lacie and stated that he wasn't sure yet, but he was really fond of Jack, also asking if Lacie had grown attached herself. Lacie slapped Levi's hands away, telling Levi that such a thing would be pointless because she was going to die soon.

Four months after her reunion with Jack, Lacie awoke from a nightmare in which she dreamed of her encounter with Jiri some 20 years ago. Levi had arrived in Lacie's tower and near the end of the nightmare and asked what kind of dream she'd been having, as it had been making her tremble with fear. Lacie avoided the question and asked if Levi had become worn out, displaying a sense of nervousness of his answer. Levi laughed and asked what kind of answer that was supposed to be, but he didn't hesitate to answer Lacie's question, telling Lacie that he couldn't deny that his body had already reached its limit. Levi went on to say that Lacie should be happy that he was going to be transferring Jabberwock to Oswald as part of the final Accession Ceremony in a mere five days, and so Oswald would soon fully succeed Levi and become the new Glen Baskerville.

Levi went over to Lacie's window, watching Oswald and Jack meet once again as Oswald brought Jack to the tower. Levi asked Lacie why Oswald always went to meet Jack every time he came to the Baskerville estate, as Oswald had said before that he despised Jack. Lacie asked Levi if he meant that Oswald had taken a liking to Jack, and so Levi remarked on how Oswald had even said that Jack made his skin crawl before. However, Lacie corrected Levi, as Oswald had only said that Jack was mysterious in the way that he couldn't see Jack for who he really was, which made Oswald extremely interested in Jack. Lacie added that Jack was different than Oswald in this way, recalling how Jack had told her that he'd been afraid of Oswald because of the way that Oswald could expose Jack with the way that he stared at him, which often put Jack on edge. Despite this, Lacie remarked on how she considered the two of them to already be close friends. Levi mentioned how he was surprised by the amount of interest taken in Jack. Lacie agreed, saying that such a thing was rare for her brother, but Levi clarified that he was talking about Lacie rather than her brother. Levi explained that he has originally thought that Lacie's relationship with Jack was on a whim, yet it had lasted much longer than that and grown so much stronger. Levi asked Lacie if after eight years of searching, even she would become attached to the lost puppy who had only recently found his way. Lacie refuted Levi's assumption, saying that she was neither Jack's lover or his mother, meaning that Jack was a mere plaything that was meant to keep Lacie occupied until she was meant to die. Levi was stunned to hear such a thing, staring blankly at Lacie before a smile broke across his face. Oswald lead Jack into Lacie's room at this time, and so the three of them spent time went outside the tower to spend time with each other.

Jabberwock Transfer
The final Accession Ceremony for Oswald to inherit Jabberwock
Leviathan657Added by Leviathan657
Levi lead preparations for Oswald's final Accession Ceremony for the transfer of Jabberwock. Five days following Jack's most recent visit, the Accession Ceremony began, Levi and Oswald standing before the Door to the Abyss that Jabberwock was the guardian of. Levi wore the cloak of Glen Baskerville as he summoned Jabberwock. Levi then used a knife to cut through Jabberwock's scales and draw blood in order for Oswald to drink it. As well, Levi then used his knife to cut his wrist, filling a chalice with his own blood, which he then gave to Oswald to drink. Once Oswald had finished ingesting Levi's blood, Levi put the cloak of Glen Baskerville on Oswald, backing away from Oswald so that the rest of the Baskervilles could see their new master, all of them bowing before Oswald.

Immediately following the Accession Ceremony, Lacie, Oswald and Levi undertook the judgement process, Lacie kneeling before Oswald while Oswald announced that he was going to use his Black Winged Chains to summon the Chains of Condemnation in order to pass judgement on Lacie for her sin of being born with the red eyes of ill omen. Oswald did just this, hesitating slightly, although he resumed when Lacie asked him what was wrong. Levi stood by and watched Oswald as he found Lacie guilty of sin against the harmony of the Abyss, opening a path to the Abyss and summoning the Chains of Condemnation to drag Lacie to her destruction.

Two days later, Jack had returned to the Baskerville estate to find that Oswald had killed Lacie. Jack was heartbroken, while Oswald felt incredibly guilty for what he had done, giving Jack Lacie's earring as a memento. Jack then returned to the Vessalius estate, the shock of the situation rendering him mentally unfit for the time being.

Alice, Revis and Oswald
Dragonfly999Added by Dragonfly999

A few days following Jack's departure from the Baskerville estate, a young girl was ejected from one of the Doors to the Abyss, holding a black rabbit doll in her hands as she stood before a shocked Levi and Oswald. Levi, at first, believed that the child may have been Lacie after having her body de-aged by the power of the Abyss because of the similarities in appearance, however the girl introduced herself as Alice instead. Alice then bit her black rabbit doll in order to make sure that it was awake, happily telling Levi this afterwards. Levi didn't know what to make of Alice's actions, however he didn't think anything of it, and so Levi proceeded to welcome Alice to the Baskerville Dukedom. In the end, Levi concluded that Lacie must have given birth to twins in the Abyss, and while one child may have been accepted as the vessel of the Nucleus of the Abyss, the other was ejected from the Abyss, and the reason that Alice appeared older despite being only a few days old was because of the Abyss' connection to all flows of time. It was now up to Levi to uncover whether or not Alice's sibling was really accepted as the Nucleus' vessel.

Over the course of the next month, Levi spent quality time with his daughter from time to time. On one occasion, Levi saw Alice drawing her black rabbit doll, giving it the name 'Os'. Levi instantly knew that Alice had named the rabbit after her encounter with Oswald, and so he corrected Alice's spelling to 'Oz'. From other encounters of theirs, Alice decided to look up the name 'Oz' in a book, realizing that Levi was right. Alice also thought about calling herself 'ore' (a masculine personal pronoun) because Levi addressed himself that way. Alice's sister also sometimes came to Earth, switching places with Alice and taking over her body for a short while. When this Alice met Levi, she immediately didn't like him, also not being too fond of Oswald.

A month after Lacie's demise, Levi decided that it was time to retrieve Jack. Levi traveled to the Vessalius estate, letting himself into the Vessalius mansion in order to see Jack, sitting down while Jack sat in his state of mourning. Levi addressed Jack, telling him that he looked like a zombie, waving to Jack when he realized that Levi was in the room and telling him that it had been about a month since the two of them had last seen one another. Levi apologized for barging in on Jack in such a way, but explained that he wanted to talk to Jack. Jack is surprised to find out that one a single month had passed since Lacie's death, and so Levi explained that Jack had left immediately after speaking to Oswald that day.

Truthfully, Levi had wanted to see Jack storm into the mansion and demand that they let him see Lacie, and so Levi was rather disappointed by Jack's reaction. Jack stated that Oswald was not a liar or very subtle, and so because of his words Jack was finally able to understand. Levi didn't know what Jack meant by 'understand', and so Jack elaborated that he understood why Lacie had lied to him, also explaining that he knew when people were lying to him because it was skill he had to learn in order to survive. Levi thought to himself how Jack had known Lacie was lying to him, yet he hadn't said anything about it. Levi told Jack that he's such an interesting person, thinking to himself how Jack was able to accept Lacie's answer despite knowing it was a lie, which made him as pure as he is twisted.

Levi stood and abruptly told Jack to follow him. Jack was unsure what Levi meant, and so Levi asked if he was right to say that Jack had lost interest in the world now that Lacie was dead. Levi stepped toward Jack, explaining that he'd like Jack to know why Lacie was cast into the Abyss. Jack was shocked to see Levi covered in more bandages and bleeding from various places, addressing Levi as 'Glen', however Jack was stopped by Levi. Levi told him that the name 'Glen' now belonged to Oswald, asking Jack to call him by his original name, Levi. Levi then said that as Jack could see, his body had reached its limit. As it was, Levi could barely walk. Levi told Jack that he didn't think that he'd live long enough to see the results of his 'experiment'.

Levi and Jack then take Levi's carriage back to the Baskerville estate. Levi took the time between destinations to explain to Jack that since the final Accession Ceremony, Oswald had been feeling down, not that you would notice unless you were looking. This was not only because Oswald had cast Lacie into the Abyss, but also because Oswald was convinced that it was his fault that Lacie was born as a Child of Ill Omen. Levi reminded Jack that he had told him before that Baskervilles generate a distortion around themselves, however this was even more true for each Glen Baskerville. This was why it's thought that the distortion of the future Glen Baskerville is what causes the creation of Children of Ill Omen, and this was why Lacie was allowed to live until Oswald could inherit all of the Black Winged Chains and gain the power to cast Lacie into the Abyss. Levi mentioned how it was torture for Oswald, stating that despite there being plenty of other reasons for casting the Children of Ill Omen into the Abyss (as it tests Glen's control of the Black Winged Chains and the Children of Ill Omen act as sacrifices in the Ceremony), but Oswald was not going to allow himself to accept such excuses. Levi moved onto the subject of the Abyss, explaining how the Abyss was the beginning and end of everything. Levi explained how the world is protected by Chains, which wind around the world in order to prevent it from being engulfed by the power of the Abyss, similarly to a cracked crystal bound tightly in chains. Jack stated that he hadn't heard of such a thing before, which Levi had expected as the concept sounded abstract even to him, yet these Chains were the reason that the Earth is able to exist the way it does. Levi told Jack that while he's not able to see or touch the Chains, they're all around him as if they were air, and the Baskervilles are meant to protect all things connected to the harmony of the Abyss, which included these Chains. Jack asked Levi what would happen if these Chains were to break, prompting Levi to ask why Jack would want to know such a thing, implying to Jack that it would destroy the world by plunging it into the Abyss.

Levi and Jack arrived at the Baskerville estate, making their way to Lacie's (now Alice's) tower. Jack saw Alice from her window, stopping dead in his tracks from shock. Levi stated that Alice looked a lot like Lacie, asking if Jack agreed before explaining that even he was surprised by their resemblance when he first saw Alice. Levi then told Jack suddenly that Alice was Lacie's daughter, and that he had impregnated her in order for Lacie to give birth to Alice in the Abyss. Jack was horrified by this, and so Levi just told him that it was an experiment, explaining the details to Jack.

Levi finished by saying that the child had been born as expected, however Lacie had been carrying twins rather than a sole child, and so only one was sent back to Earth. Levi said that Alice had arrived on Earth only a few days after Lacie was cast into the Abyss, causing Levi to believe that it was Lacie de-aged by the power of the Abyss at first. Levi told Jack that their task now was to try and find out why only one child was sent back, and if the Nucleus really did accept the other child as its vessel. Levi then mentioned how Lacie always said that the Nucleus had a personality of its own, so he thought that they should name the entity, although he knew Lacie would have killed him if they'd called it 'Core' or 'Abyss-Chan', and so Levi finally settled on the Intention of the Abyss.

Levi finished by saying that he wanted to see how the Baskervilles would change when the Nucleus received its vessel and that he wouldn't be able to carry on with his experiment. Levi then left Jack to finish what he'd started with his experiment telling Jack that he may use Alice to fulfill his 'wish.' Levi then stated that he'd be watching with the other Glens from inside the joined soul of Oswald before waving goodbye to Jack and disappearing into the darkness of the forest. When Levi's soul merged with Oswald's, his body then mutated into the Chain Humpty Dumpty, and formed a contract with the Baskerville named Celia.

100 years after the Tragedy of Sablier, Levi, Oswald and the other Glens before them, had their souls merge with the child destined to be the next Glen, Leo.

Leo had recently joined in servitude to a companion whom often came to visit him in the House of Fianna, Elliot Nightray. When the two returned to Sablier to visit the House of Fianna, they're told by Mrs. Finn that four orphans had wandered off into The Hole of Sablier. Elliot decided that they couldn't wait for Pandora to arrive, and so he insisted that he and Leo retrieve the orphans themselves.

Leo and Elliot found two of the orphans slain, when Leo saw the third orphan, Helen, crying alone in the distance. Leo ran to her, finding out from her that the final orphan, John, started acting funny before he attacked them. Elliot then sees a Chain and John on a cliff above Helen and Leo. Elliot charges at the Chain, thinking that it was going to harm Leo, which made the Chain think that Elliot was going to harm Leo himself. The Chain impaled Elliot, causing Leo to scream and order it to drop Elliot immediately.

Within his subconscious, at least five Glen Baskervilles from the past surround Leo. Levi told Leo that the Chain was only trying to protect Leo, as the Chain had believed that Elliot was going to attack Leo himself. Levi then suggests to Leo that he had Elliot make a contract with the Chain, as the Chain was none other than Levi's mutated body, Humpty Dumpty. Levi explained that they couldn't heal Elliot's wounds, but that a contract with Humpty Dumpty would temporarily seal Elliot's wounds. Leo agrees reluctantly, although none of the Glens could remember Humpty Dumpty's name, so Oswald told Leo to guess by looking at it. This helped Leo identify him as Humpty Dumpty, which lead to Elliot's completed contract with Humpty Dumpty.

Oswald then grabbed Leo within his subconscious, reminding Leo that everything that had happened was his fault, Levi stood by and watched with the three other Glens as Leo fled within his own subconscious, returning to Elliot outside of his body.

Jack's Intention ArcEdit

Following the destruction of the final Sealing Stone, Oswald's soul is completely set free from its bounds. Oswald declares his dominance over Leo's soul by shrouding him in his coat, and from a far, Levi's soul is seen smiling at Oswald's soul, however Oswald only glares back angrily at his former master, now knowing in full what he had done in the past.

DescriptionEdit

AppearanceEdit

In life, Levi had long white hair, which he had pulled back into a braid that had been tied around a ponytail coming out from the back of his head. A small section of Levi's bangs was allowed to drape over his face, reaching down to his shoulders, while another section of hair was brought forward from the back of his head and tied in a long braid which draped over his left shoulder. When taken out of its braid, Levi's hair was shown to have been long and flowing, reaching the entirety of his torso in length.

Levi had tired violet eyes. As he aged, the sclera of his eyes lessened and lessened until it was no longer visible, possibly because of the affect of his term as Glen Baskerville coming to an end, as his sclera reappeared when his  soul parted from his body and joined the other past vessels of Glen Baskerville in Leo's body.

Most commonly, Levi wore a white dress shirt and a white ascot under a purple vest, which he wore under an overcoat that had black trim and was adorned with gold buttons. Over top of this, Levi usually wore a blue shawl lined with fringe that he wrapped around his torso, wearing dark colored pants and black boots to complete his outfit. When attending official ceremonies, such as Oswald's Accession Ceremonies, Levi would wear a black coat with an elongated collar on the right side, which faded from black to bright crimson further and further down the coat, this being the exact same coat that Oswald would inherit from Levi when he became 'Glen'.

PersonalityEdit

Levi's overall personality was quite cheerful, tending to be rather sarcastic, finding entertainment in most situations no matter how inappropriate his humor may be at the time.  Levi always seems to have a reason to smile despite facing his own potential death and losing people who he cares for. Although he does show that he can be serious if needed. It appears that he has a strange way of showing his humor as shown when he laughed at Oswald's observation and when Lacie grabbing Jack away from them.

Levi did not display any skill in swordsmanship, however, he did display that his preferred style of wielding knives is using reverse-grip.

  • Pandora Hearts 18.5: Evidence revealed that Levi was skilled at archery.

ChainsEdit

Levi had contracts with each of the five Black Winged Chains. As Levi was a Baskerville, he was able to form "Illegal Contracts" without fear of a time limit for his time remaining on Earth. Using the Black Winged Chains, Levi was able to open paths to the Abyss. As well, the Black Winged Chains could pass judgement on those who have committed sins against the harmony of the Abyss (i.e. being born with the Red-Eyes of Ill Omen) and them summon forth the Chains of Condemnation to wrap around the sinner and drag them into the depths of the Abyss to be destroyed by the darkness of the Abyss if they're found guilty. All five Chains can also mend the Chains which encircle Earth should they ever be severed, thus allowing Levi to prevent the world from falling into the Abyss in its entirety. Apart from their main abilities, Levi could also access secondary abilities of the Five Black Feathered Chains during combat:

Raven

  • Raven can breathe blue flames, capable of severing limbs and causing even death to the likes of even the Baskervilles. Raven can send out flurries of feathers doused in fire as well to attack victims from a further range.
  • Raven can also bind the powers of other Chains (which it had done on Dodo and B-Rabbit 100 years after Levi's time).

Owl

  • Owl can spin threads which it can connect to individuals. These threads are invisible to everyone apart from the holder of the threads, and they are able to lead the holder directly to the individual its connected to by the shortest path possible.

Dodo

  • Dodo's primary ability is to create illusions, which are able to make physical contact with victims, as well as assault the victims mind.
  • Dodo also displayed an attack which it used on Sharon Rainsworth long after Levi's time, the ability to attack individuals with dark energy. However, this seems to have been a relatively weak attack.

Gryphon

  • None of Gryphon's secondary abilities have been displayed as of yet.

Jabberwock

  • Jabberwock is capable of generating energy beams which can potentially vaporize anything in its path. Unfortunately, generating the energy beam takes time.

*Note that all five contracts were nullified with Levi when he passed them onto Oswald.

RelationshipsEdit

OswaldEdit

Levi's relationship with his successor was on good terms, the two treating each other more like equals as Oswald matured. Oswald was made Levi's personal assistant eventually, Oswald inspecting every guest whom Levi came into contact with at various events. When Levi and Oswald were interrogating Jack Vessalius after Jack had gabbed Lacie without warning, Levi made Oswald express how he felt about Jack, laughing hysterically after many of Oswald's answers, as well as poking fun at Oswald when he stated that he couldn't stop thinking about Jack. After further elaboration on his feelings, Oswald has a glass of water thrown on him by Jack, thus causing Levi to laugh uncontrollably again at the awkwardness of the situation Oswald had put Jack in.

Four months after Jack's arrival, the time came for Oswald's final Accession Ceremony. After Levi transferred Jabberwock to Oswald, Lacie's judgement was immediately undertaken. Levi stood by and watched Oswald convict Lacie for her sin of being born with the Red-Eyes of Misfortune. Levi had never told Oswald of how he had impregnated Lacie, so Oswald had no way of knowing that by casting Lacie into the Abyss, he was providing the Nucleus of the Abyss with a vessel as Lacie gave birth in the Abyss.

Levi joined Oswald when Alice was ejected from the Abyss, joining him in greeting her, Levi knowing that Alice was  his daughter after learning her name, and because of this, Levi almost seemed to have been distancing himself from Oswald as the next month carried on. Levi eventually died, Oswald still not knowing what his previous master had done, as Levi's soul faded into Oswald's and his body mutated, becoming Humpty Dumpty.

After another 100 years, Levi and Oswald spoke with Leo when Elliot was fatally wounded by Humpty Dumpty in the Hole of Sablier. Oswald spoke in a condescending way to Leo, not offering Leo his sympathy, whilst Levi suggested that Leo have Elliot form an Illegal Contract with Humpty Dumpty in order to seal the wounds for the time being, opposing Oswald. Oswald became silent as Levi said this, showing strain on their relationship because of what Levi was having Leo do. Oswald would remind Leo that Elliot's inescapable demise was his fault because of a distortion around him brought on by his destiny as the successor of Glen Baskerville's soul.

Levi's relationship with Oswald became even more strained when all the Sealing Stones were broken. Oswald gained all the knowledge of what Levi had done with Lacie, understanding finally why everything had turned out the way it had. Levi appeared before Oswald to see him off within Leo's subconscious, but Oswald only glared at Levi, not showing any signs of forgiveness.

LacieEdit

Levi's relationship with Lacie was somewhat like father and child when he first welcomed her and her brother into the Baskerville family. Levi would even take Lacie into Sablier with him on occasions because Lacie was often meant to stay in the confines of her tower. However, because Levi was the acting Glen, he would become wrapped up in events (such as the one he held in Arthur's honor) and would subsequently have to cancel his plans with Lacie. However, it didn't take long for Levi to develop a somewhat special relationship with the young Lacie. Lacie had told him of a presence she had felt within the darkness of the Abyss when she had observed it from a far. Levi took a risk with Lacie after extensive thought, deciding finally to explain to her the existence of the Nucleus of the Abyss, as well as her fate as a Child of Ill Omen and other secrets of the Abyss which were previously meant to be withheld by each Glen. After Levi had finished explaining the powers of the Abyss to Lacie, Levi immediately offered her a place in his experiment, which would involve Levi impregnating her so that she could give birth within the Abyss to provide the Nucleus with a human vessel so that humans could control Abyssal power.

Lacie was against this at first, however she complied to Levi's offer for the sake of the Nucleus, wanting to cease its loneliness once and for all. Levi would then make plans to impregnate Lacie when she would come into maturity in the next 10-20 years.

As Lacie matured, her relationship with Levi did as well. Their interactions became much more playful and taunting, allowing Levi to speak to Lacie more as equals rather than as adult and child and following Levi's impregnation of Lacie, Levi started developing feelings for Lacie sooner than he had anticipated. Levi had taken a fast liking to pregnant Lacie, making things slightly more awkward as a result as Lacie was like his daughter and his lover at the same time. Levi also ended up spending more time with her alone as a result of this new found closeness in their relationship. Although Levi had become closer with Lacie, he was still able to be extraordinarily blunt and cold, and yet cheerful, when delivering the news of Lacie's demise to her.

Levi was rather disappointed following Lacie's casting into the Abyss, becoming rather surprised and grateful when Alice was released from the Abyss because he had initially thought that Alice was Lacie, and that she had just been de-aged by the power of the Abyss. However, Levi was ultimately able to accept that Lacie was gone for good.

Jack VessaliusEdit

Upon getting to know Jack, Levi was extremely intrigued by him and his love for Lacie and how Jack had not given up on trying to reunite with Lacie, even after eight full years. Levi found it astonishing that Jack was so cool about the fact that Lacie had seen him as nothing more than a plaything, wanting nothing more than to see Lacie just once more and not speaking up despite the fact that he had known that Lacie was just using him for the time being. Additionally, Jack's influence on Oswald and Lacie further intrigued Levi, prompting him to invite Jack back to the Baskerville estate whenever he pleased, giving Jack a map of the estate and surrounding areas, marking clear paths to the mansion as well as labeling secret entrances into the mansion in order to further observe Jack's behavior.

Over the course of the next four months, Levi had taken quite the liking to Jack. However, Levi had known that Oswald's final Accession Ceremony was fast approaching, which meant that both his own and Lacie's deaths were fast approaching. Lacie lied to Jack that the Accession Ceremony was in a week rather than in five days, thus allowing Oswald to fully inherit the title of Glen from Levi and allowing Oswald to cast Lacie into the Abyss to be destroyed. Levi sat by and watched when Jack came back to the Baskerville estate two days following the Accession Ceremony looking for Lacie. Levi had hoped that after Jack found out about Lacie's death that Jack would barge into the mansion and demand to see Lacie, however Levi was disappointed and Jack simply returned to the Vessalius estate.

A month later, Levi went to the Vessalius estate on the brink of death, intending to tell Jack the truth about the powers of the Abyss, as well as Alice. In the carriage ride from the Vessalius estate to the Baskerville estate, Levi told Jack of how Oswald had been feeling down because he blamed himself for Lacie's existence as a Child of Ill Omen because of the fact that the distortions created by the vessels of Glen Baskerville are allegedly the cause for such a being's existence. Levi also took the time to explain how Children of Ill Omen are destined to be returned to the Abyss as a way of the Glens cleaning up their messes. The final secret which Levi divulged to Jack in the carriage was about the Chains of the world, explaining to Jack that the Baskervilles protect these Chains because if they should be severed, the world would crumble into the Abyss, trusting that this information was safe with Jack.

When the two reached the Baskerville estate, Levi showed Jack Alice from the bottom of her tower. Jack was shocked by this and Levi explained what exactly Alice was, requesting that Jack take over the experiment which Levi was undergoing in confidence that he would use Alice to fulfill both his and Levi's wishes, as Levi was not going to survive long enough to see the results himself. Since Levi shared all of this with Jack, Levi unintentionally provided Jack with the necessary information to create the Tragedy of Sablier through his misplaced trust of Jack.

AliceEdit

Alice, Levi and Oz after Levi corrected Alice's spelling

Alice was Levi's daughter who had been sent to him through a Door to the Abyss after Lacie had given birth to her and Abyssal power from the Nucleus of the Abyss had accelerated her age by thirteen years. Levi was surprised to see Alice at first, thinking she was Lacie and that she had her age reversed by the Abyss' power, though he soon learned otherwise. Upon meeting his daughter, Levi played along with Alice after she had bitten the black rabbit doll which she emerged from the Abyss with, telling Levi that the doll was awake after all. Despite not understanding Alice's meaning in this, Levi did not question it, and so he welcomed Alice to the Baskerville Dukedom alongside Oswald.

Alice resided in Lacie's old tower after this, Levi now often spending time with his daughter. However, Levi's time with Alice would be cut short now that Oswald had succeeded the title of Glen Baskerville from Levi, speeding the process of Levi's death.

During one of their visits, Levi noticed Alice was drawing her black rabbit, having apparently named it 'Os', and so Levi immediately puts two-and-two together and figures out that she had named the rabbit after Oswald following their interaction. Knowing this, Levi happily corrected Alice's spelling of the rabbit's name to 'Oz', causing Alice to become overly excited, leaving Levi to watch his daughter enjoy herself. As well, because of their interaction, Alice decided to look up 'ore' in a book, because Levi had used 'ore' (as it is a masculine pronoun) when referring to himself, and as a result Alice developed a masculine personality because she lacked a feminine example to draw from.

Soon after their encounter, Levi died, meaning that this short amount of time that Alice spent with her father was some of the only quality time that the two spent together. Levi was shown to truly care for Alice, however he still intended to use her existence for scientific purposes to try and observe whether his experiment had been successful or not. Alice's relationship with her father was somewhat casual, having addressed him by name instead of addressing him as father, possibly suggesting that Levi had never disclosed to Alice that he was in fact her father. Despite appearing to not know in full who Levi really was, Alice seemed to really enjoy Levi's company.

Intention of the AbyssEdit

While Alice and her father seemed to have gotten along rather well, her twin sister did not. The Intention of the Abyss had a strained relationship with her father after interacting with him when she switched places with Alice's soul in her body on Earth, her relationship with Oswald was in a similar state.

Arthur BarmaEdit

As the Barmas were exiled from their home country after losing a war, Arthur Barma was known for trying his hardest to get in good with the Baskervilles, being comparable to a lost puppy. Levi saw Arthur in the same way and enjoyed putting Arthur on edge. Though Levi wasn't heartless, so he'd allow Arthur to get close to him, even throwing a party for Arthur on the Baskerville estate as Levi had seen his relationship with Arthur as an opportunity to experience new cultures, which he saw as a valuable and enriching experience.

Despite Arthur trying to get close to 'Glen', Levi's term as the head of the Baskervilles was almost up, and so Levi would soon die and Arthur would have to try to get closer to Levi's successor and former assistant, Oswald.

CeliaEdit

It is unknown what relationship Levi had with Celia before his 'death' but after he transformed into Humpty Dumpty, Celia contracted with him in order to use Levi's new chain powers to protect Oswald, as the new 'Glen'.

QuotesEdit

To Jack Vessalius
  • "I see. This is… This is my servant Oswald, the older brother of your beloved Lacie."
  • "You're an interesting fellow..."
  • You look like a living corpse, Jack.
  • "I impregnated Lacie, and Alice was born in the Abyss..."
  • "What I wanted... was change. However, I'm afraid it is time for an accursed being such as myself to exit the stage. I leave the rest to you. You're free to use her to fulfill your wish, I'll be watching together with all the other past Glens."
  • Levi: "The Abyss is at once the beginning and end of all things. The world is protected by Chains that prevent it from being engulfed by the power of the Abyss."
  • Jack: I've never heard that before..."
  • Levi: "Of course you haven't. It's pretty abstract even to me. And yet, it's thanks to this force that our world can remain as it is. You may not be able to see or touch them, but those chains are all around you just like the air. The Baskervilles are supposed to guard the power of the Abyss, and that includes those Chains."
  • Jack: "What if... what if... those Chains were to break?"
  • Levi: "Why would you... ask me something like that?"
To Oswald
  • "Still, it's pretty unusual for you to show interest in someone."
  • "Uh…what? I didn't know you swung that way."
  • "Do you even hear yourself talk? Try to explain why you felt that way about this man."
  • "It's ok; just tell me what you felt."
To Leo
  • Levi: "Do you want to save his life?"
  • Leo: "Can you... do that?
  • Levi: We cannot heal those wounds... but we may be able to seal them. Have him drink its blood and pronounce its name."
  • Leo: Its name?
  • Levi: That's right. I'm sorry but we can't recall its name anymore. You will simply have to guess by looking at it."
  • Leo: "... Humpty Dumpty...?"
